That about sums it up. :)

Weather issues and work issues and not enough time.  So. Enough whinging. Plan of action to follow.

When I started adding titles here, eBay kinda got away from me and whether it is or not, I feel like everything is completely disorganized. I’ve closed the eBay store – temporarily – to restructure. Going through all the inventory one magazine at a time. Making sure the description is right, the photo is right and just whipping everything back into shape. The plan is to reopen the ebay store within 30 days – so mid October at the latest. Just in time for all your holiday shopping!

Once that is good to go, the files will be in order to upload everything here very quickly.

Still listing lots of cool stuff at Amazon though. Some great finds the last few weeks. And sending in a big box of unusual toys and games that should be listed by next week.

It’s been a crazy few weeks in real life 9-5ish world. Hopefully that will slow down soon so I can get more done here.  I’ve just finished listing about 20 or so new mags and updated the ‘featured’ to show August issues. There will be more current issues added before next weekend.

Googlebase is implementing changes in their feed and we’ve been working hard to get all the listings ready by September 1st. No real visible changes on the site, everything is extra info behind the scenes. It just slows down the listing process.

As always, our eBay and Amazon stores have new items as well.

Just watched Source Code the other night. What a great movie! I do love just about anything with Jake Gyllenhaal in it. This had a nice plot, makes you think a little bit. Vera Farmiga is perfect in her role. Such a calming voice even when she’s a little panicked. Great character development. I see lots of comparisons to Inception but the science behind them are completely different animals, not to mention the Source Code ending was much better. I don’t see them as all that similar. I liked one of the guys comments in the extras: It’s more like Groundhog Day meets Speed.

The last week or two I’ve been quietly adding to the listed inventory. Probably 100 or so new mags, mostly current/recent issues. I’ve also updated the Home Page so it now shows the ‘featured’ items. The featured category will probably stay the current months issues, possibly changing if there’s a holiday, major event, etc going on.

Also in the midst of a rather large update probably another 50 mags that will trickle live over the next week or so. Very busy week coming up, but I’ll spend as much time as I can on it. All of the newest mags are currently up on eBay for a while longer.

With all of eBays changes I, like many others, are not thrilled with that marketplace anymore. I’ve been experimenting with Amazon – mostly other media, books, new and used dvds, as well as toys & games. It’s a new adventure and so far it’s been pretty good to Metropolis. :) If you’d like to check out some of my other wares beside mags have a look. I have new items arriving there every 1-2 weeks.

It’s summertime and the movie blockbusters have already started. Personally, being a HUGE fan of the original Planet of the Apes movies – and an even bigger mocker of the Tim Burton debacle – I was a little hesitant to even watch a preview of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. But I gave in, and it looks like it’ll be a great ride. Can’t wait until August!

What are YOU waiting to see?

Pokes & Prods

I’ve fixed the Google Checkout issue and it all seems to price correctly now when checking out.

Also updated and tweaked a few minor bugs.

Working on a big product update now, should be adding lots more items over the next week. :)

So as I said a few days ago, when the shopping cart was updated the shipping prices went crazy, then disappeared.  We’ve updated how shipping is calculated and made it much much simpler for everyone.

Starting today, we now offer to all of our domestic 50 U.S. customers a flat rate shipping charge of $5.00. Whether you purchase one item, or 5, or 10. You will have just the one shipping charge of $5.00.

There will also be a handling fee of $1.00 per item.

The shipping method – first class, parcel, or priority – will depend on the actual size and weight of the total order. We will send it the fastest method that makes the most sense. We’ve shipped A LOT of magazines over the years and we take pride in doing it fast, but also doing it well.

And never fear if you’re not is the US of A. The international option has been removed because there is just no easy way – at the moment – for wordpress to calculate it correctly and simply. So if you’re in Canada, the UK, Germany, France, Australia or any other country big or small – if you see something you’d like, just send an email and request a shipping price with your item, email and country. We’ll send out an invoice through paypal and you’ll be good to go. :) From past experience I can tell you the shipping price will range from $9 – $15 depending on the items and your location.

And now that everything already listed has been updated, we can finally start adding the 100+  new/recent magazines that are patiently waiting to go to a good home. Updates should start by the weekend!

Wow! A month since I last posted and so much going on. I’m working on about 3-5 BIG projects all at the same time – never a good idea.

Big changes on the eBay front, from a seller point of view anyway. We will keep a store there, just not sure how big yet.

WP e-commerce update and everything went BOOM. I’m in the process of fixing all the little snafu’s. One of which is causing me to rework the shipping options. So if it looks weird just give a shout.

Many, many updates and listings coming soon. Soon being defined as ‘within a week.’ But it seems lately that as soon as I make a plan, something comes along and FUBARs it. Keep your fingers crossed!

Got about 40 new listings up for today. A handful each of Entertainment Weekly & Rolling Stone. A few Latina, Seventeen, Teen Vogue and Vogue.  There may be some more added before the weekend is through.

Next week I’ll be tackling the perilously high stack of new issues – Jan, Feb Mar of 2011 – they’ll be listed on eBay first and then here shortly thereafter.

Watched ‘Let Me In’ with SQEE tonight. Makes me want to watch the original. This movie was severly lacking. Would’ve been tons better without the very fake looking CGI. Ruined it for me nearly every time.

Feb 25 Update

by metro

Just a small update with a handful of recent music magazines: Rolling Stone, Spin and Revolver. A huge update is in the works for tomorrow – most likely. :)

Added 15 magazine listings tonight, mostly recent TV Guides. A few recent Marie Claire, Nylon and Harper’s Bazaar. Also corrected a few photos that were missing.

Did you know we scan every magazine we list?  Instead of using a stock photo, we go that extra step to make sure you know exactly what you’re getting.

Feb 22 Updates

We’ve realized there’s a bug with Google Checkout, so that payment option has been removed for now. If you really want to pay with Checkout,  send an email including which item(s) you would like and we can send an invoice that way.

As for product updates, this month has been crazed. We’ll be back on the ball sooner than later. :)
