Store Policies

Before it’s listed, every magazine is thoroughly checked for:

  • Completeness – we only sell whole, complete magazines.
  • Condition/Grading – rips, tears, stains, rubbing, creases, odors, etc ANYTHING will be listed if it applies.
  • List of contents – anything featured on at least one full page will be in the listing. That one full page could be an article, photo, review etc, but it will be the full page.  ***This is currently a work in progress, if you’re looking for content information for a particular issue please send an email, we’re happy to check.***

Shipping

Magazines are packaged in an archive safe protector. If it is a larger format magazine it will be packaged with a manilla folder.

We prefer to ship in our document mailers as they are already reinforced to stay flat, they’re light and secure. Sometimes due to weight, it is most cost efficient to send in a USPS Priority Mail Flat rate envelope. When shipping this way we add cardboard to help keep it flat during shipping.

Magazines do not qualify for Media Mail shipping, please do not ask.

All US orders will have delivery confirmation when ordered, and tracking will be emailed after shipping.

For International orders, you may be subject to import duties and taxes which are enforced once a shipment reaches your country. Charges for customs clearance must be paid by you. Unfortunately we have no control over these charges.

Shipping for both Domestic and International purchases is optional and available to purchase in the Other category.

Grading:

Most of our issues fall into the NM, F, VG range. We do list even minor flaws/tears.

MINT – New mags that would pretty much have to be in original plastic mailers. Usually noted as ‘SEALED’ in the title.

NEAR MINT (NM) – Should look like it has never been read, but may have one or two minute defects from being shipped or shelved such as small scuff spots or very minor wear at the top or bottom of the spine.

FINE (F) – The most often seen collectible grade. A flat, tight, solid magazine with minimal signs of wear. May have some beginning loss to cover gloss, some minimal spine wear, Cover corners may show some slight bumping and covers will show more signs of scuffing.

VERY GOOD (VG) – Probably displays some loss of cover gloss, some light creases to the covers, noticeable scuffing or rubbing to the covers, some dog-eared or creased inside pages. Some very light soiling, one or two pages may be starting to come loose. There still will not be any torn or missing pages or pages with holes in them.

GOOD (G) – Shows wear, creases, and some small tears to the covers and the interior pages. Staples may be beginning to discolor or rust. May have minor water damage to a few areas and center pages may be loose from the binding (but still present). The magazine is still complete, and in reasonable condition, but is definitely shows signs of being read and handled .

FAIR (FR) – Overall still a solid and complete magazine, but it definitely shows signs of wear and having been read several times. There may be considerable water damage, loose covers, considerable creasing to the cover and interior pages, large tears to interior pages, or highlighting or hand written notes on the pages or the covers. At best, this is probably a reading copy.

Returns

In general all magazines are one-of-a-kind purchases with no refunds or returns. I strongly recommend the optional shipping insurance, if you are worried about the shipping. Insurance can be purchased here.

If the magazine you received:

  • is damaged during shipping
  • is the wrong item
  • grossly misrepresented in the listing

contact us at metro@metropolismagazines.com. Please remember the item you received is probably the only one. These will be handled on a case by case basis.
